When do you apply lawn treatments for moss, weeds and lawn nutrition?

T1 Spring Lawn Treatment Visit:

Lawn feed treatment:

Application of a high nutrient lawn feed to promote strong growth after the Winter period.
Our specialist granular Spring fertiliser has been specially blended with a temperature controlled release agent. This means the nutrients are only released when your grass is actively growing and needs the nutrition, reducing wastage and surface run-off.

Lawn weed treatment:

Your lawn will be treated with a professional selective weedkiller to treat all actively growing weeds, subject to suitable conditions.

T2 Early Summer Lawn Treatment Visit:

Lawn feed treatment:

Our early Summer lawn feed is designed to give a lush, healthily growing lawn.

Lawn weed treatment:

We will also spot treat emerging weeds with our professional weed control products during this visit if needed and weather conditions allow.

T3 Late Summer Lawn Treatment Visit:

Lawn feed treatment:

In these hot, dry months we apply a non-scorch, slow release feed.

Lawn weed treatment:

Any stubborn weeds or those that have arrived since our last visit are spot treated during this visit, subject to suitable conditions.

T4 Autumn Lawn Treatment Visit:

Your lawn will be treated to a balanced feed that encourages root development and growth. Increases disease resistance and helps sustain the grass through the colder months.

T5 Winter Lawn Treatment Visit:

Combined micro nutrient feed treatment and moss treatments:

Our combined liquid nutrient and moss suppression treatments contain essential micro nutrients to improve the health of your lawn.
This treatment aids the lush, green appearance of your grass.
Moss will rapidly dehydrate and blacken.

How do you improve the soil conditions in lawns?

Water conserver

With our recent hot, dry Summers, we apply a specialist wetting agent as standard with our Lawn Restarter Visit.
This granular product can be effective for up to 3 months.
Working to increase moisture retention in the soil profile and availability of water to the grass roots, this treatment is ideal for lawns prone to dry patch.
In dry conditions the soil can develop a fungus that actually repels water and makes the soil hydrophobic, this treatment helps to combat this issue.
It reduces the amount of watering required as it makes the best use of any available water, which is great for you, the environment and your lawns.

Soil improver

This mix of essential minerals, gypsum, humic acid and organic materials is applied as standard with our Autumn lawn treatment.

The benefits of this treatment are:
Buffers soil PH.
Deflocculates heavy clay soils for increased drainage and nutrient uptake.
Aids root development.
Stimulates microbial activity for a healthy soil and healthy lawn.

How do you renovate a lawn?

lawn-aeration-kent

Lawn aeration is undertaken using our professional aerating machines. This is one of the most important things you can do for your lawn.
Regular use of your lawn will cause the soil particles to become squashed together and compacted, leaving little space in the soil for water, air or nutrients, all of which are essential for the survival of grass.
Aerating opens up and de-compacts the soil in your lawn, enabling water, air and vital nutrients to reach the roots of your grass. Roots will be encouraged to grow thicker, increasing disease resistance and promoting lush growth.

lawn-scarifying-Kent

Lawn scarification is the mechanical process of removing excess thatch and moss from the base of your grass plants. These absorb water and nutrients, and block light, effectively choking your lawn. Scarifying will open up the lawn surface, and prune lateral grass roots, encouraging your lawn to thicken and the grass to grow with vigour.
Scarifying should be undertaken every 1-3 years, depending on the individual requirements of your lawn. Lawns containing a large proportion of fescue grasses will produce more thatch than rye based lawns, so need more regular scarification.

lawn-over-seeding-kent

As grass plants die from old age and disease, your lawn will naturally thin out. In wild grass areas, the seed produced by the grass plants will replenish the dead plants. Regular mowing of managed lawns removes these natural seeds, so the lawn will gradually become thinner. Over-seeding will thicken your lawn, filling bare patches that would otherwise provide ideal areas for the invasion of moss and weeds. We prepare the lawn surface to an ideal seed bed with our scarifier prior to seeding, then rake or drag mat the seed deep into the surface to improve germination rates.
We use top quality rye and fescue cultivar grass seed, ideal for hard wearing, great looking lawns.

Frequently asked questions:

If your lawn is a bit tired looking, our Enhancer Package or Restarter Package will help transform your lawn.

We provide bespoke lawn treatments throughout the seasons, so we can start improving your lawn straight away.
We won’t apply treatments in unsuitable weather conditions. If the ground is frosty, covered in snow or waterlogged we will re-arrange your appointment to a more suitable day, part of our commitment to exceptional quality and service.

You should notice your grass looking greener and weeds dying within a couple of weeks after treatment.

Most of our clients are at work or out when we visit. All we ask is for you to ensure you leave us access to your lawns.
We will give you plenty of notice and a reminder a couple of days before we are due to visit, please respond if you need to re-scedule to avoid a missed visit.

You should keep people and pets off the lawn until any moss or weed treatments have completely dried, we recommend at least 24 hours after application of these products.
Rabbits, Guinea Pigs and other grazing animals should be kept off treated areas for at least two weeks, or three lawn cuts, whichever occurs latest. We can leave any areas untreated for grazing if preferred, just let us know.

Any technician applying lawn treatments hold a minimum of the relevant NPTC Pa1 & Pa6 qualifications for pesticide application. This is a legal requirement for applying professional grade weed treatments, which aren’t available to the public.

You should avoid mowing your lawn 3-4 days either side of a lawn treatment. This enables weed leaves to be as big as possible to absorb maximum weedkiller, and enables the fertiliser to start work into the soil.

Most treatments require composting for 6-12 months to allow the chemicals to break down. We occasionally use specialist treatments which require the clippings to be collected and disposed of away from green recycling waste, we will let you know if this is the case.
